Is Life on Mars boring?

There's a new Mars lander vehicle called Phoenix which is transmitting pictures from Mars. In common with all other pictures from Mars the Martian landscape is shown as a black and white featureless plain less interesting than the Gobi Desert. The only pictures even remotely interesting are the ones showing some part of the lander like a foot or antenna. Does man really think he'll be able to make a viable environment from this dried up mess of gravel and rocks?
Of course the UFO freaks think they can see spacecraft and human faces in the featureless vistas but they are probably caused by grit on the lens or transmission artifacts. Or is NASA holding back on us? It reminds me of a cartoon where the lander is looking out over the usual boring vista and behind the lander unseen is a whole Martian civilization looking like a 1930s Flash Gordon cover.
Anyhow I thought why not do a Mars inspired compilation but taking inspiration from the traditional view of the red planet. It turned out pretty good if I say so myself. Some reasons to download this are music by Tritonus, Tangerine Dream (really!) , Artie Kane's version of Mars Attacks and lots of others.
