Doors Open Kingston

We are less than a month away from the big day and are looking forward to a great event this year. With well over 30 participating sites, it should be our best year so far.

We are again proud to be a part of the Doors Open Ontario initiative. Doors Open Ontario 2008 continues to bring together communities across Ontario. Throughout the province, there is a growing pride in our heritage. Communities boast of their commercial buildings, courthouses, places of worship, gardens, and natural and other heritage sites. The Ontario Heritage Trust - the province's lead heritage agency - invites you to experience these hidden heritage treasures first-hand.

Every year, Doors Open Ontario attracts large crowds across Ontario. From April to October, residents and visitors are invited to discover first-hand Ontario's hidden heritage treasures, some of which have never been open to the public. Since the program was launched in 2002, nearly 2.5 million visits have been made to heritage sites participating in this exciting initiative. Doors Open Ontario, now considered a cultural phenomenon, will be even larger in 2008 with hundreds of communities participating in 54 events across the province. Festivals and Events Ontario has recognized Doors Open Ontario as one of the province's "Top 100 Ontario Festivals" in 2008.

Visit sites throughout the City of Kingston as they open their doors to the public to showcase amazing architecture and design, historical collections and a glimpse inside Kingston's landmark buildings. Doors Open Kingston is part of the two-week First Capital Days festivities.
